Things picking up for Davis

NORFOLK, Va. -- Wayne Davis had a breakout season last fall. The 2016 Lake Taylor cornerback spoke with about the latest developments in his recruitment.

"I have offers from UNC, Clemson and JMU," said Wayne Davis. "Penn State, Miami, Florida, Ohio State, Tennessee, Clemson, Virginia and Virginia Tech are also recruiting me."

North Carolina was his most recent offer.

"It means a lot to get that offer and I'm definitely interested," said the 5-foot-11,165-pound Davis. "(Defensive line) coach (Keith) Gilmore is recruiting me and we have a good relationship.

"He came to a few of my games last year and told me that he likes the way I play and to keep up the hard work. I plan on going to a one-day camp there this summer."

Along with a trip to Chapel Hill, Davis will camp at Clemson and James Madison.

While he is enjoying his recruitment, Davis is focused on building off his all-state sophomore season.

"I'm playing both sides of the ball this year and I just want to get better," he said. "Team-wise, we want to win a state championship. It's going to take hard work and dedication."

Update: Davis has picked up offers from Ohio State and Tennessee in the past few days.
