Four-star linebacker Jerome Baker of Cleveland Benedictine, who is currently rated as the No. 1 player in the class of 2015 in the state of Ohio, announced his pledge to Florida this morning at his high school. He picked the Gators over Ohio State and Tennessee.
“I like how it fits my personality," he previously told Scout's Simone Scott. "That’s something that I really enjoyed. It’s really laid-back, it’s about your business and having fun. It really fits me and I really fell in love with the place. I visited them over Spring Break. The whole place was different. The weather was different, the people were different. It was just a different feel. You can just feel that it is a different culture down there being in the SEC and down South. It was a great experience.”
Baker is rated the No. 48 player in the class of 2015 and the fifth-best outside linebacker.
OSU already has commitments in the class of 2015 from the nation's best middle linebacker in Justin Hilliard as well as four-star OLB Nick Conner of Dublin Scioto. A prospect at Cincinnati St. Xavier, Hilliard is Ohio's No. 2-rated player in the '15 class.
The state's No. 3 prospect, cornerback Shaun Crawford of Lakewood St. Edward, is a Notre Dame commitment, while fourth-rated L.J. Scott, a running back from Hubbard, pledged to Michigan State last night. Offensive lineman Hjalte Froholdt of Warren Harding, the state's No. 5 player, is an Arkansas pledge.
OSU also will receive an in-season official visit from the nation's No. 1 OLB, Malik Jefferson of Mesquite, Texas, and is also in the mix with such linebackers as Ricky DeBerry, Jahvoni Simmons and Te'Von Coney.
