Ohio State commit Denzel Ward showed the skills that earned him an offer at Ohio State's camp Monday night in 7on7 action. The Macedonia (OH) Nordonia athlete was impressive on both sides of the football.
Ward, 5-foot-11, 170-pounds, is very similar current Buckeye commit Damon Webb, with Ward having more speed. While Webb was at his best for every rep, Ward can tend to drift at times, letting inferior wide receivers get inside him. That will need to be corrected before he shows up at Ohio State.
One skill Ohio State might not be aware of is Ward's ability to catch the football, which is exceptional. He has the talent to play slot receiver for the Buckeyes, but will be needed more on the defensive side of the football.
The nice thing about Ward on defense is that he catches interceptions, and he's very dangerous with the ball in his hands.
Here are some clips of Ward in action. He is in the green jersey with a white sleeve, and also is wearing bright green shoes.
