FNL Preview: Defensive Headliners

Cornerback Jordan Whitehead headlines a bevy of talented defensive backs that will be in Columbus for the Friday Night Lights camp.

A boatload of talent will make their way to Columbus in a couple days for the Friday Night Lights camp at Ohio State. Here's a quick glance at some of the top prospects on the defensive side of the ball that will be in attendance.

Jordan Whitehead. Monaca (PA) Four-Star cornerback. He wants to make a decision sooner rather than later so another unofficial visit at this stage in the process is very helpful for Ohio State. I tend to think this one will last until February, regardless.

Damon Arnette. Fort Lauderdale (FL) Three-star cornerback. He's a South Carolina commit and will compete in Columbus on Friday for an opportunity to join the class.

Jared Mayden. Sachse (TX) Five-star cornerback. He's the biggest out-of-state underclassmen headliner that will be making the visit. Ohio State can make a big impact in his recruitment early, and Chris Ash has already been integral in this one for the Buckeyes.

Kyree Campbell. Woodbridge (VA) Four-star defensive end. He has an Ohio State offer and is high on the Buckeyes early on. This trip should only magnify that interest.

Jonathon Cooper. Gahanna (OH) Four-star linebacker. He's one of the in-state prospects that could be in line for an offer at some point, and he'll have a great opportunity to get closer to that this Friday.

Tyrece Speaight. Akron (OH) Four-star cornerback. Another top prospect in Ohio, this will be a stage where Speaight can put himself squarely on Ohio State's radar.

Zach Sandwisch. Toledo (OH) Three-star linebacker. 2016 is a good year for linebackers in Ohio and Sandwisch will have the opportunity to etch his name in that group.

Auston Robertson. Fort Wayne (IN) Four-star defensive end. He's already been to Ohio State and will camp in front of the staff for a possible offer.

LaVert Hill. Detroit (MI) Cass Tech Four-star cornerback. He's earned an offer at nearly every school he's camped at and will try to continue that momentum in Columbus on Friday.

Lamont Wade. Clairton (PA) cornerback. He will be in the discussion to be the top prospect in Pennsylvania for the 2017 class, and has the potential to be a national prospect.
