When a player leads the Houston area in interceptions, that is probably something that will catch the attention of coaches across the country.
For Houston (Tex) Cy Fair defensive back Maxx Chrest that seems to be the case.
He has already taken a couple visits to the SEC, Big 10, and most recently to the Pac-12. And from that journey. Chrest reports that he will go into his senior season with four offers in hand.
“The offers I have are from Utah, Cal, New Mexico and Tulsa, but I am talking with Stanford, Ohio State and Ole Miss,” Chrest said.
The 5-foot-11, 165-pound Chrest said the latter three (all whom have not offered) are the programs that he is liking the most for the moment. During his junior campaign, he is seen on film playing all over the secondary.
As for the numbers, Chrest led all players with eight interceptions last season.
“Coaches want me as a corner. They say they like my instincts, you know, see me as a ball hawk,” Chrest said.
Chrest, to date, has visited Utah and camped at Ohio State. Most recently, he and friend and teammate defensive tackle Ross Donelly visited Stanford. Before that, the two of them checked out Mississippi State and Ole Miss.
“I’m pretty excited (about recruiting) and can’t wait to see what happens after this season,” Chrest said.
