OSU Adds UNLV, Oregon State To Replace UNC

Ohio State football has replaced a home-and-home series against North Carolina with home games against UNLV and Oregon State.

One day after Ohio State football dropped a home-and-home series with North Carolina scheduled for 2017 and 2017, the Buckeyes replaced the Tar Heels with home games against Oregon State and UNLV.

Ohio State will host UNLV on Sept. 23, 2017, and will open up the 2018 season on Sept. 1 against Oregon State in Ohio Stadium. The switches fix a problem with the 2017 schedule, as Ohio State was set to hit the road six times and generally tries to ensure that it plays seven home games each year.

It will mark the first time the Buckeyes have faced off against UNLV. Ohio State currently holds a 2-0 mark against Oregon State, having dispatched the Beavers at home in 1974 (51-10) and 1984 (22-14).

In addition to filling two holes in its schedules, Ohio State also announced that it would be moving its home-and-home series with Boston College. Originally scheduled for 2020 and 2021, the games will now be played Sept. 9, 2023, in Columbus and Sept. 2, 2024, in Chestnut Hill, Mass.
