Raven Ferguson Dismissed From Women's Hoops

Ohio State announced that senior women's basketball player Raven Ferguson has been dismissed from the team for a violation of team rules.

Ohio State head women’s basketball coach Kevin McGuff announced Thursday morning that senior guard Raven Ferguson has been dismissed from the team for a violation of team rules.

Ferguson played in 95 career games for the Buckeyes with 19 starts during the previous three seasons. After being suspended for the first three games last season, the Columbus Africentric product averaged 10.8 points and 5.4 rebounds last season as a junior in a key reserve role while earning honorable mention All-Big Ten honors.

“I’ve enjoyed having the opportunity to coach Raven this past year,” McGuff said. “And it’s unfortunate that we’re at this point, but due to a violation of team rules she can no longer be a part of our program. I wish her nothing but success as she moves forward as a basketball player and as a person.”

The 5-11 guard was set to be the only senior on a young but highly skilled women's basketball team, which welcomes in one of the nation's top recruiting classes after finishing McGuff's first season at 17-18 last year while reaching the Big Ten tournament semifinals.

Both the Ohio State women's and men's basketball programs have their media days today. Stay tuned to BuckeyeSports.com for more coverage.
