Unsurprisingly, much of the talk was about defense. The Buckeyes switched from the 2-3 zone they had been playing all year to a man-to-man defense for the final 24 minutes against the Illini to great effect. Having seen the game film Matta commented on the switch and the lift it seemed to give the team.
Loving, who has hauled in 27 rebounds in his last five games after grabbing that same amount in the first 11 games of the season, talked about his improved rebounding and the differences that come with crashing the glass in the man-to-man.
Minnesota is second in the country with 11.73 steals per game. Matta spoke about their aggressive defense.
Tomorrow will be just the Buckeyes second true road game, having lost the first to Louisville in early December. Scott and Loving addressed the difficulties of conference play on the road.
