BSB TV: Moving On From Purdue

Thad Matta, Jae'Sean Tate and Shannon Scott spoke about the Buckeyes recent loss to Purdue and their upcoming match-up with Rutgers.

After falling to Purdue 60-58 on Wednesday, the Buckeyes will look to get back on track at Rutgers tomorrow at 5:30. Thad Matta, Shannon Scott and Jae’Sean Tate met with reporters Saturday to preview the game with the Scarlet Knights and reflect on the road loss to the Boilermakers.

The Buckeyes were without sophomore Marc Loving in the loss to Purdue as the team’s second leading scorer has “temporarily lost his privilege to wear the Scarlet and Gray.” Matta said that it was a decision made by the athletics department and that Loving is still practicing. The coach is unsure when he will return to the team, but he is not traveling to Rutgers.

Shannon Scott said that not having Loving was no excuse for the loss to Purdue.

Scott struggled against Purdue, going just 1-of-8 from the floor. Matta called for more production from the pint guard and fellow senior Sam Thompson.

The Buckeyes game at Rutgers is their second straight road game, part of a stretch where the team plays four of five contests on the road. Scott said that Ohio State needs to elevate it’s level of play when outside Columbus.

Ohio State is still searching for consistency, Matta said, and he isn’t sure exactly how they can get it.
