BSB TV: Aces All Day

The Ohio State men's volleyball team has been the best serving squad in the country this year. We take a look at how hard it is to return a Buckeye serve.

Ohio State men's volleyball team has more aces than any squad in the country this season, and it's not close.

The Buckeyes average 1.89 aces per set, dwarfing the next highest number of 1.61 put up by Coker and Erskine. Ohio State is also the only team in the country to boast three servers in the Top 25 nationally in aces per set.

Sophomore Miles Johnson (0.43 aces per set, 10th nationally), freshman Nicolas Szerszen (0.40, 20th) and senior Michael Henchy (0.39, 24th) have all been dominant servers this season. For some reason, I thought it would be fun to find out what it was like to be on the other side of those serves.

Johnson, Szerszen and Henchy all had no problem firing serves at me, some coming in at over 60 mph. I do my best to return them, and as you might guess the best efforts of a casual sand volleyball player are no match for these Division I athletes.
