Buckeyes Land 4-Star WR Mack

Ohio State's recruiting roll continued with a commitment from Austin Mack, giving OSU a nation's best six pledges so far in the Scout 100.

What has long been predicted is now a reality: Austin Mack is a Buckeye.

The four-star wide receiver out of Fort Wayne (Ind.) Bishop Luers chose Ohio State over Michigan, Notre Dame and Tennessee in a ceremony at the RAS Camp in Fort Wayne, Ind., on Saturday.

Ohio State’s staff was in constant contact with Mack throughout his recruitment, and the No. 17 wide receiver and No. 86 overall prospect in the class of 2016 took several visits to Ohio State home games during the 2014 season.

“It’s huge,” he said. “They’ve been in my recruitment ever since I was a freshman and sophomore, so being with them and hearing from them is huge. They’re a good coaching staff.”

After celebrating his recent invite to The Opening, Mack (6-2, 205) offered a quick assessment of his skill set.

“I’m a route runner, and I make plays,” he said following the May 31 camp in Columbus. “I’m a playmaker and I understand the route tree and defenses.”
