FNL Preview: JaVont'e Richardson

Maple Heights junior athlete JaVont'e Richardson is one of the top prospects in Ohio for the class of 2017, and a player that will be in attendance at Friday Night Lights. What are Richardson's chances of earning an offer?

JaVont'e Richardson

School: Maple Heights, Ohio.

Projected position: 2017 Athlete.

Size: 6-foot-3, 207-pounds.

Ranking: Four-star prospect.

Recruiting: Offers from Kentucky, Bowling Green and Toledo.

WILL RICHARDSON BE OFFERED? I like Richardson a lot as a player, and I know everyone is basically recruiting him as a wide receiver. Ohio State is going to get Trevon Grimes, possibly the best outside receiver in America, and lead for Jaylen Harris, the top in-state wideout. That doesn't leave much room for another outside wide receiver. Even though Richardson is coming to FNL to work out for Zach Smith as an offensive player, is there a chance he also performs at safety for the Buckeye staff? I like him as a defensive player, possibly a linebacker, and would love to see Richardson work out for Chris Ash on the defensive side of the ball. Richardson would have a chance to be a Tyvis Powell or Darron Lee in the Ash-led defense. He has the size, length, footspeed and physicality to succeed on that side of the football. If spots are taken on the offensive side, Richardson has the talent to play defense for the Buckeyes. Will be interesting to see how things go at Friday Night Lights.
