Ohio State Training Camp Coming To TV

An in-depth look at Ohio State's upcoming training camp will be on BTN this fall as the network will give fans a peek behind the curtains in "Scarlet and Gray Days" starting Aug. 19.

There's no college football team that has made more headlines or stirred up more interest this summer than the Ohio State Buckeyes.

And the defending national champions will now allow fans and the nation a look at their preseason training camp with their own "Hard Knocks" style training camp show on Big Ten Network.

BTN's "Scarlet and Gray Days" will debut Aug. 19 and last three to four episodes, network president Mark Silverman said Friday at Big Ten Media Days.

Silverman described the show as an "unprecedented look" behind the scenes of Buckeyes training camp but also noted it likely won't quite go as deep as HBO's Hard Knocks does when it looks at NFL teams each fall.

“Over our nearly eight-year history, BTN has consistently demonstrated an ability to tell the story of our conference, schools and athletes via original programming,” Silverman said. “As a testament to our track record, Ohio State is trusting us to do just that as the Buckeyes embark on yet another potentially historic season.”

The Buckeyes report for camp Aug. 9 and will begin the season Sept. 7 vs. Virginia Tech.

Head coach Urban Meyer has opened up his training camp before, doing so in 2012 when ESPN's "Training Days" show featured the Buckeyes and such memorable moments as this.
