Video: Hear From Apple, Coombs And Baugh

Is Eli Apple ready to take on a leadership role? Which freshmen corners does Kerry Coombs expect to play this season? Is Marcus Baugh ready to contribute? We have the answers straight from the source.

With the first game of the season just 13 days away, Ohio State has solidified most of the open positions in the two-deep (at least outside of that whole quarterback thing).

That includes the defensive secondary where Eli Apple will start for the second consecutive year at one cornerback position while Gareon Conley will start opposite him and Damon Webb has the inside track at the nickel spot. Conley and Webb were not made available to the media Tuesday, but position coach Kerry Coombs talked about their progress after addressing the injury status of Marshon Lattimore, a player that figures to add depth after he deals with a hamstring strain,

Apple also spoke about the progress of the cornerbacks room and his new status as a leader despite being just a redshirt sophomore.

Tight end Marcus Baugh was made available to the media for the first time since Ohio State’s 2014 student appreciation day. The redshirt sophomore said he has moved past the two underage drinking citations he has received in his Buckeye career and it working to get on the field and supplement starting tight end Nick Vannett.
