For months, it's been clear Ohio State would wear a black jersey vs. Penn State, but exactly what it would look like was unclear.
Would the Buckeyes don a black jersey with scarlet sleeves, as was being sold in stores around Columbus? Would the numbers be gray or scarlet? And how about the helmet?
The answer, now, is known. Multiple reports Thursday, including one by jersey writer Andrew Lind, show what the blackout jerseys will look like.
Then, Saturday morning, Nike released pictures showed exactly what the jersey will look like, including a black helmet.
Ohio State has not shied away from alternate jerseys under Urban Meyer, generally utilizing a Pro Combat jersey with chrome helmets under the lights the past two seasons and wearing alternate uniforms designed by Nike in the College Football Playoff. A few years ago, a photo from Meyer's office showed black jersey concepts sitting on a coffee table.
