The numbers situation is not good and the Buckeyes have two offensive tackles committed to their 2017 recruiting class, but Sugarcreek Garaway's Joel Honigford just might be too good for Ohio State to pass up.
Honigford holds over 25 offers to date, including Auburn, Oklahoma, Michigan State, Nebraska and Penn State. He is planning to visit Ohio State later this week.
"I will be going to Ohio State for a visit this Friday," Honigford stated. "I talked to Coach (Greg) Studrawa a few nights ago and asked him just how serious Ohio State is about me. I've been talking to him more than Coach (Ed) Warinner since he was hired."
"He said they are very interested and he has to figure out just how many scholarships they have left," he added. "I told him I would love to be able to put Ohio State in the mix for a school I could sign with, assuming they would offer me."
"He said he definitely wants to get me offered and it depends on the numbers," he continued. "I'm hearing they might be adding one more offensive lineman to this class, and I feel like I'm in the mix to get that offer. I'm going to keep working hard, and see what happens."
Scout will continue to track Honigford's recruitment over the coming months, and will update his situation as warranted.
