OSU Recruiting: WR For 4-Star Brendon White?

Four-star Brendon White has been committed to Ohio State since last fall and it's been assumed that he will play defense for the Buckeyes. Is there a chance we could see White playing wide receiver at Ohio State?

BEST OVERALL ATHLETE IN THE CLASS? It's easy to make the case that Brendon White is the top athlete in the 2017 Ohio State recruiting class. He is probably looked at as a linebacker by the Buckeye staff, but he was amazing at safety last year for Olentangy Liberty. He also punted last year, and was really good. White also returmed kicks and punts, and was a dangerous return man. This year? Olentangy Liberty lost their quarterback, so naturally they're going to play White behind center. There's no doubt he would be a great runningback if they needed him to play there.

LOOK AT THE TAPE: Instead of boring people with miles of film, look at the first play of the above tape. White comes from ten yards away in a flash, intercepts the football and takes it to the house. What isn't on the tape is that he had to change direction as he broke to the football, and you don't see the ground he covered. I saw it live and was stunned at the reaction time. He also tackles well, so yes, he might be the next Darron Lee but he also might be playing strong safety.

WHERE DO I LIKE HIM? Go back to the tape and watch him use his body as a wide receiver in the next two plays. That was from a few weeks ago at the Unrivaled Showdown in Akron. We know White can run, but I love a physical wideout that can muscle through defenders to make tough third-down and goal-line catches. While guys like Jaylen Harris, Trevon Grimes and Donovan Peoples-Jones excite people, and rightfully so, son't discount White making his mark as the next Mike Thomas as Ohio State.
