Ohio State Football Ranked No. 6 In Preseason AP Top 25

A day after fall camp ended, Ohio State found out it was ranked No. 6 in the first AP Top 25 of 2016.

The Ohio State football team is ranked No. 6 in the preseason Associated Press Top 25, despite plenty of questions regarding an inexperienced roster. Ohio State also received one vote for first in the poll that was released Sunday morning.

Head coach Urban Meyer's Buckeyes are led by quarterback J.T. Barrett, center Pat Elflein and middle linebacker Raekwon McMillan, but more than half the roster consists of freshmen and redshirt freshmen.

A year ago, Ohio State opened the season as the consensus No. 1 team after winning the first-ever College Football Playoff in 2014. The Buckeyes closed 2015 at No. 4 in the standings after finishing the season on a high note with wins over Michigan and Notre Dame, with the latter coming in the Fiesta Bowl.

Joining the Buckeyes in the Top 25 out of the Big Ten were Michigan (No. 7), Michigan State (No. 12) and Iowa (No. 17). Alabama was ranked No. 1 while Oklahoma, who Ohio State is scheduled to face in week three in Norman, Okla., was ranked No. 3.

The Buckeyes are scheduled to open their season at home against Bowling Green on Sept. 3.
