Ohio State Football: Urban Meyer Updates Depth Chart, Names Hubbard A Starter

Fall camp is over and the Buckeyes are less than two weeks away from kickoff. Urban Meyer met with the media to discuss the end of fall camp and more on Monday.

As players are gearing up to go back to school, Urban Meyer and the Buckeyes are winding down fall camp and gearing up for the regular season. Meyer met with the media Monday morning to recap fall camp as Ohio State inches closer to its 2016 opener against Bowling Green. 


  • Meyer opened by saying he likes how hungry his current team is. He said they are healthy and that he is pleased with the team so far. 
  • Meyer officially named Sam Hubbard a starter along the defensive line today. 
  • While he would not name a No. 2 QB, Meyer said Dwayne Haskins is already pushing Joey Burrow for the backup spot behind J.T. Barrett. 
  • As of now, Malik Hooker and Damon Webb are the starters at safety. Meyer added they are not set in stone however. 
  • Meyer said Torrance Gibson missed around 10 practices during camp with a hamstring injury. Said he practiced for the first time in a while today. 
  • He said Isaiah Prince and Jamarco Jones are the starting tackles along the offensive line. 
  • He said the receiver rotation will be deep. Named Noah Brown as the first guy on the list. 
  • Meyer said Keandre Jones, Joshua Alabi and Jordan Fuller lost their black stripes after practice today. 
  • Meyer said Curtis Samuel "is our No. 1 playmaker on offense right now." 
  • Meyer described Larry Johnson as a very valuable asset to the program. His speech to the team during practice went viral last week. 
  • Meyer said his No. 2 offensive linemen "are not good enough," right now. 
  • He said without Ezekiel Elliott, Meyer said he hopes to be more balanced on offense this year. 
  • Meyer said he is never satisfied in recruiting, despite the big signings today.
