Ohio State wide receiver Torrance Gibson has been suspended for the 2016 fall semester, a team spokseman said in a press release.
The release stated that Gibson was suspended for "a violation of the University's student code of conduct," but did not provide further information related to his standing with the team beyond the fall semester.
Gibson, a redshirt freshman out of Plantation (Fla.) American Heritage, had yet to play a down for the Buckeyes but was expected to contribute in 2016. He also missed a portion of fall camp with a hamstring injury, but returned to practice last week.
The former four-star quarterback recruit had switched to receiver during his freshman year in a bid for playing time. Gibson spoke at Ohio State’s team media day Aug. 14, but he was not present on a roster released Monday by the program.
