COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer said he does not agree with the University's decision to suspend Buckeye wide receiver for the 2016 fall semester.
"It's not athletic department or football and I disagree with it," Meyer said Monday.
Meyer said he's dealt with similar situations in the past, but did not elaborate.
Gibson's suspension was announced via a press release from a team spokesman Monday morning. The full release read: "Ohio State red-shirt freshman wide receiver Torrance Gibson has been suspended from The Ohio State University for the 2016 fall semester for a violation of the University’s student code of conduct."
Gibson, a former four-star quarterback prospect who switched to receiver at Ohio State, has yet to appear in a game for the Buckeyes.
