Ohio State Football: Dante Booker Questionable For Tulsa Game With MCL Sprain

Just days after the Buckeyes dismantled Bowling Green 77-10, Urban Meyer met with the media to discuss the record breaking performance and preview the upcoming matchup against Tulsa.

Urban Meyer met with the media Monday morning to recap the blowout win over Bowling Green and look ahead to the Tulsa game. Just prior to Meyer taking the podium, quarterback J.T. Barrett was named Big Ten Player of the Week for the fifth time in his career.

  • Meyer opened by saying that former Buckeye football players Butler By'not'e and Roy Hall met with the team to speak early this week.
  • Malik Hooker was named defensive player of the game for Ohio State after his two interception performance against Bowling Green. Joe Burger also named a champion.
  • Mike Weber, Terry McLaurin, K.J. Hill, Pat Elflein all graded as champions on offense. Barrett and Curtis Samuel graded as co-offensive players of the game.
  • Kicker Tyler Durbin was named special teams player of the game. Meyer said he had the best hangtime on kickoff the Buckeyes have had since he has been here.
  • Meyer said Tyquan Lewis was originally discovered by Mike Vrabel at a high school camp at OSU. Said his effort stood out.
  • Meyer said Davon Hamilton, Robert Landers and Malik Barrow are candidates to earn reps in the absence of Tracy Sprinkle who is out for the season with a patella tendon injury. Meyer said Sprinkle had surgery Sunday and is not expected back for a bowl game.
  • After reviewing the film of Saturday's game, Meyer said Corey Smith was disappointing. "He should be better than he is." He added he expects McLaurin to play more moving forward.
  • Meyer said linebacker Dante Booker is questionable for Saturday's game with a MCL sprain. Burger played most of the snaps at outside linebacker for Ohio State against Bowling Green.
  • Meyer said he plans on continuing to play a plethora of receivers moving forward. The Buckeyes played 10 receivers in the first quarter alone against Bowling Green.
  • Meyer said he does not recruit players to redshirt them. He said he wants to recruit kids who can play right away. "We are pushing that really hard," Meyer said.
  • Meyer on Demario McCall, "He is trying to be a tailback at Ohio State. It is hard to tell him to slow down."
