WHAT ARE THE STRENGTHS OF WHITE'S GAME? I love the size, length and overall athletic ability of Brendon White, and think he is the type of player that will flourish at Ohio State. With his father, William White, having played for the Buckeyes, Brendon already has an appreciation for the uniform and what it takes to succeed in Columbus. While he could easily play either side of the football, it appears he will be starting out at wide receiver. He could also be successful at linebacker or safety, but he has the skills to contribute at Ohio State at whatever position they see fit.
WHAT ABOUT WHITE AS A WIDE RECEIVER? Even though he has only played the position sparingly, I believe this is one athlete that will be able to make the transition to this spot. And I usually hate trying to turn high school runningbacks or quarterbacks into wideouts, but Brendon White makes sense to me because I've seen him catch the football. At a camp last April I wrote this about White after seeing him play wide receiver: We know White can run, but I love a physical wideout that can muscle through defenders to make tough third-down and goal-line catches. While guys like Jaylen Harris, Trevon Grimes and Donovan Peoples-Jones excite people, and rightfully so, don't discount White making his mark as the next Mike Thomas as Ohio State.
WHO DOES WHITE COMPARE TO? Again, as stated above I see a lot of Mike Thomas in Brendon White. While not the fastest wideout around, much like Thomas, this kid knows how to use his body to shield defenders from the football and he has very soft hands. As White goes through the Ohio State strength and conditioning program, he will add muscle and bulk to his frame.
