Urban Meyer Updates: Baron Browning To Have Shoulder Surgery

Urban Meyer met with the media Tuesday morning following Ohio State's sixth spring practice of 2017.

Urban Meyer provided the media with injury updates and more following his sixth practice of the spring.

  • Baron Browning is out "a couple months" after injuring his shoulder in spring practice. Set to have surgery today (March 28). Meyer said he expects him to be ready to go by June and to contribute as a true freshman. 
  • Meyer said Parris Campbell is impressing in spring practice and hopes he has a good year. 
  • Parris Campbell was listed as the No. 1 wide receiver according to Meyer who added he could play H-back for Ohio State this year.
  • Freshman JK Dobbins has passed Antonio Williams on the running back depth chart and Demario McCall and Dobbins are battling for the No. 2 RB position according to Meyer.
  • Antonio Williams missed practice with a hamstring injury, Meyer said. 
  • Davon Hamilton had surgery on an injured foot. Meyer said he will be full speed soon.
  • Meyer called his 10 early enrollees "maybe out best group" of freshmen he has had. 
  • Meyer said Kendall Sheffield has already lost his black stripe. 
  • Meyer said Kevin Wilson has "done a marvelous job" adapting to an assistant role after being the head coach at Indiana. 
  • Meyer said that March 28 was Ohio State/s best offensive practice of spring ball.
  • Meyer said Matthew Burrell "has had a couple of good days." Hinted that he could be pushing Demetrius Knox for the opening at guard. 
  • Justin Hilliard tweaked his bicep in practice according to Meyer, but nothing serious.
