Ohio State has received its eighth commitment in the 2018 class as four-star defensive end Brenton Cox gave his verbal to the Buckeyes on Tuesday evening.
Scout ranks Cox as the No. 53 overall player in the country and the sixth best defensive end. Cox committed to the Buckeyes over what was considered to be his No. 2 school in Georgia, which is also his home state. He also turned down offers from Alabama, Auburn and Clemson amongst others.
Cox was in attendance at the Buckeyes spring game on April 15, with other members of Ohio State's 2018 class and was set to make his college announcement April 23. He delayed his decision until Tuesday however, when he decided on the Buckeyes.
Cox joins quarterback Emory Jones, safeties Jaiden Woodbey and Josh Proctor, defensive tackle Taron Vincent, running back Brian Snead, athlete Jaelen Gill and offensive tackle Max Wray in Ohio State's 2018 class.
