Marcus Freeman, a 6-foot-2, 230-pound linebacker from Huber Heights (Ohio) Wayne is one of the top defensive prospects in the nation.
Freeman had a tremendous junior season, totaling 152 tackles, 32 tackles for loss, nine sacks, six caused fumbles, three fumble recoveries and one interception. Those numbers were good enough to earn Marcus 2nd team all-state honors in the Buckeye State.
This past spring, Freeman was voted Most Valuable Prospect at the (Ann Arbor) Nike Camp and more than 35 schools have offered a scholarship. Which schools remain in the hunt for Freeman's services?
"Right now it's O(hio) State, Michigan, Miami, Oklahoma and Notre Dame," said Freeman.
"I'm going on an official visit at Michigan for the O-State game (11-22) and I might take my Oklahoma visit next week (11-19) when they play UCLA.
"I don't have a leader. I've narrowed things down to these five schools, I'll take my visits and make a decision sometime this winter."
Marcus Freeman is the nation's #11 ranked linebacker prospect according to TheInsiders.com. Marcus ran a 4.6 40-yard dash at the Ann Arbor Nike Camp but says he recently ran a 4.47 at his high school.
