Ohio State and head coach Urban Meyer picked up their first five-star commitment for 2018 Friday night.
Five-star linebacker Teradja Mitchell, the 16th-ranked player in the nation, gave a verbal commitment to the Buckeyes on Friday night at his high school, Virginia Beach (Va.) Bishop Sullivan Catholic. Mitchell becomes the 12th member of Ohio State's 2018 class and the first inside linebacker. He also joins four-star outside linebacker Dallas Gant in the class.
The nation's top-ranked MIKE linebacker picked Ohio State over Florida State after cutting his decision down to two schools earlier in the process. He had numerous other offers, though, including national powers like Alabama, Clemson, LSU, Michigan and USC, among many others.
Mitchell's announcement gives Ohio State two verbal commitment in as many days after Plantation (Fla.) American Heritage three-star defensive end Andrew Chatfield pledged to the Buckeyes on Thursday.
