Justin Ahrens Decommits From Ohio State

Versailles small forward Justin Ahrens reopens recruitment.

Former 2018 Ohio State commit Justin Ahrens has decided to reopen his recruitment. The news comes one day after it was announced that Thad Matta would no longer be the head coach of the Ohio State men's basketball team.

Ahrens, who had been committed to the Buckeyes since August, took to Twitter to make his announcement Tuesday.

Ahrens is a three-star prospect out of Versailles, Ohio. He is the second 2018 recruit to decommit from Ohio State this offseason. Cincinnati Princeton small forward Darius Bazley did so in April

Upper Arlington, Ohio, shooting guard Dane Goodwin represents the lone commit for Ohio State's 2018 haul. He has been a pledge since December of 2014, before even playing his first game of high school basketball.

“As of right now, I’m still with Ohio State," Goodwin told BuckeyeSports.com Monday evening. "Nothing has changed. I’m still kind of leaning that way. As time goes on, whatever happens, but as of right now I’m still with Ohio State. I’m still committed.”
