Krenzel doubtful to start, will dress

Assistant coach Bill Conley says it will be a game time decision, but Craig Krenzel did not practice on Thursday.

After practice today, OSU tight ends coach/recruiting coordinator Bill Conley provided an update on the status of QB Craig Krenzel.

"Craig did not practice today, and the jury is still out for Saturday," Conley said.  "He will dress though, and we'll see how it goes the next few days."

Conley was asked how the injury was progressing.

"It is getting better, but the next 48 hours will tell on that," he said.

When asked if there would be any hesitation on putting him in the game after not practicing all week, Conley replied "Craig has been under the gun a lot.  He is an experienced quarterback.  Scott McMullen has been under the gun before too, and he's been in the heat of battle.

"The fortunate thing is our coaches and players have confidence in both of them."

Conley was asked if the only time Krenzel will throw this week will be in pre-game warm ups.

"That's correct," he said.

When asked about the chances of Krenzel starting the game, Conley said "I would say that right now that it is probably doubtful, but he will be dressed and on the sidelines. We will see what happens on game day."
