Week 5 Highlights

In a rematch of last year's Division III state championship game, top-ranked Cleveland Benedictine avenged that loss with a 21-10 win at Columbus Bishop Watterson. RB Ray Williams had 110 yards on 26 carries, including the game-capping 13-yard touchdown run for Benedictine. Jon Huddletson had a 90-yard kick return for the Bengals.

Cleveland Glenville downed Cleveland East 39-6. QB Ted Ginn Jr. had a 96-yard interception return for a score and two TD runs for Glenville.

Cincinnati Moeller edged Cincinnati St. Xavier 10-9. QB Chris Reisert came off the bench to complete 9 of 15 passes for 111 yards and a touchdown as Moeller spoiled the first game at the Bombers' renovated stadium. A missed extra point also hurt St. X.

Hamilton knocked off Cincinnati Oak Hills 21-20. RB Adell Givens had 151 yards on 20 carries, including a 52-yard TD run for the Big Blue.

Cincinnati McNicholas QB Zach Denton threw for 281 yards and two TDs and also rushed for 151 and three scores in a 44-36 win over Cincinnati Purcell Marian.

Cincinnati Elder QB Rob Florian threw for 244 yards and three TDs in a 42-7 rout of Cincinnati LaSalle.

Wilmington RB Marque Jones had 272 yards and all five of his team's TDs on 23 carries in a 35-12 win over Goshen.

Pickerington Central RB A.J. Trapasso carried 19 times for 194 yards and three TDs in his team's 35-17 win over Hilliard Darby.

Dublin Coffman QB Jack Rafferty completed 19 of 25 passes for 418 yards and two TDs in a 47-0 win over Grove City Central Crossing. WR Pat Lamonica had seven catches for 198 yards and a TD catch.<.p>

Columbus Independence RB Erik Haw, an OSU verbal, had 159 yards and two TDs on 33 carries in a 26-6 win over Columbus West. Haw went over the 1,000-yard mark in the game.

Columbus Eastmoor Academy RB Dionte Johnson had a 22-yard TD run in his team's 22-0 win over Columbus South.

Columbus Beechcroft DB Sirjo Welch, an OSU verbal, had a 56-yard interception return for a score in a 53-10 win over Columbus Whetstone.

Lancaster rallied from down 16-0 to win 38-16 over Westerville North. RB Jon Carpenter had 182 yards and two TDs on 29 carries for the Gales.

Austintown-Fitch, with OSU verbal WR Miles Williams, moved to 4-1 with a 21-19 win over Massillon Perry.

Akron Buchtel RB Antonio Pittman, an OSU verbal, had 277 yards on 13 carries with two TDs in a 48-0 win over Akron Ellet.

North Canton Hoover RB Alex Ramsey carried 34 times for 188 yards and three TDs in his team's 21-6 win over Canton GlenOak. Jason Giannini hit field goals of 21 and 49 yards for GlenOak.

Cleveland St. Ignatius, top-ranked in Division I, defeated Canton McKinley 34-14 in the final regular season game scheduled -- at least for now -- between these two tradition rich powers. QB Brian Hoyer completed 10 of 15 passes for 159 yards and two TDs. McKinley has asked for a moratorium in the series, which has been continuous since 1994.

Warren Harding downed Lakewood St. Edward 27-20 in overtime. QB Alex Engram finished the night 8 of 18 for 115 yards and two TDs. He hit junior WR Mario Manningham with a 17-yard TD pass. TB Delbert Ferguson carried 20 times for 77 yards and a score, while Richard Davis had 12 carries for 56 yards with one TD running and one receiving.

Hubbard RB Shaun Lane, an OSU verbal, shrugged off a shoulder injury to decimate Youngstown Liberty in a 28-23 win. Lane had 219 yards and three TDs on 32 carries, including the 1-yard game winner with 38 seconds left.<.p>

Akron Hoban junior RB Tyrell Sutton carried 28 times for 346 yards and four scores in a 41-27 win over Parma Holy Name.

Toledo Woodward capitalized on six Toledo Rogers turnovers in a 28-21 win. Rogers RB Fred Davis had 142 yards and two TDs on 19 carries.

Massillon Washington QB Steve Hymes completed 24 of 33 passes for 316 yards and two TDs and also rushed for 45 yards and another score in his team's 35-12 win over Mansfield Senior.

Huber Heights Wayne, with LB Marcus Freeman, improved to 4-1 with a 50-8 win over Beavercreek.

Dayton Chaminade-Julienne's Ryan Patrick came up big in a 50-37 win over Hamilton Badin. He scored the first TD of the game on a 65-yard pass interception, caught a 12-yard pass from quarterback Anthony Turner and returned a fumble recovery 80 yards for another TD for C-J (4-1).

Xenia, with OSU verbal OL Ben Person, blanked Kettering Fairmont 14-0.

Coldwater, the state's No. 1-ranked team in Division IV, doubled up St. Henry 42-21. QB Alex Hoyng completed 18 of 28 passes for 333 yards and four TDs.

Versailles knocked off Delphos St. John's 34-26, toppling the state's No. 1 team in Division V. Versailles took a 34-10 lead in the third quarter. Ryan McNeilan led off the Tigers' scoring with an 80-yard kickoff return after St. John's had kicked a 26-yard field goal. Ben Shappie scored on a 1-yard run and caught a 41-yard scoring pass from Kyle Gehle.

Dola Hardin Northern, the top-ranked team in Division VI, also tasted defeat, falling to McComb 35-14.

OSU Verbals Outside Ohio

Mount Carmel, Pa., with OL Jon Skinner, pulled out a 10-2 win over Shamokin. Mount Carmel visits Pottsville Friday.

Tallahassee (Fla.) Lincoln defeated Valdosta, Ga., 21-20. QB Joe Bauserman completed just four passes, but his fourth-quarter TD run lifted Lincoln to victory.
