One of the best defensive prospects looking at Ohio State this year is the 6-5, 230 Derrick Harvey, a DE from Eleanor Roosevelt HS in Greenbelt, MD. Harvey was supposed to come up for the Washington game, but he had a scrimmage that day. He might not be taking any visits for a while though.
"I'm going to have to set up all my visits for after the season," he said. "Down here, our games are scheduled on Saturday. Pretty much everybody down here plays on Saturday."
In two games, Harvey has four sacks and twenty tackles so far, and he's also playing tight end on offense.
Harvey has already taken a trip to one of the top attractions in the Buckeye state.
"Yeah, I've been up to Cedar Point," he said. "Two summers ago."
Right now, things seem in limbo in his area due to Hurricane Isabel. Derrick hasn't been to school since last Wednesday and doesn't seem to know what will happen football-wise.
"Eighty schools don't have power, so I don't know what's going to happen now," he said.
Derrick, who plans on majoring in criminal law, is being recruited for OSU by Luke Fickell. He talked a bit about what he likes about Ohio State.
"The coaches up there, they're defending national champions, and I'd get
the chance to play early," he said.
