Recruiting Update - Pat Sims

We have a recruiting update on Ft. Lauderdale (FL) Dillard standout DT Pat Sims, who says OSU is on the list and is one of several offers.

Ohio State has had their share of success with players from Dillard High School in Ft. Lauderdale as they currently have WR Chris Gamble and LB Thomas Matthews on the team from that school. Dillard is home to several more Division I-A prospects this year, one of which is DT Pat Sims.

Sims lists his height and weight at 6-3, 270 and reports a 4.8 40.

"I have been offered by Ohio State, Florida, Auburn, Tennessee, North Carolina State, Rutgers, South Florida, and Central Florida," he said. "I camped at both Auburn and Rutgers."

Pat says teams are recruiting him at defensive tackle.  With that size, what about offensive line?

"No, I play tight end on offense," he said.

Pat, who also plays basketball, says visits are up in the air at this time.

"I don't know right now," he said. "I don't know exactly who, and I don't know when, but it's probably going to be after the season."

Pat, who says the depth chart is going to be a real key to where he commits, said that watching OSU win the championship played a big role in his interest in the school, but there is also one other connection.

"My coach is Thomas Matthews's dad," he said.
