Recruiting Update - Michael Massey

OSU and Michigan are going at it on the field this Saturday, but it won't stop there as they'll be going at it for some recruits this winter. One of them is St. Ignatius DE/TE Michael Massey.

Everyone knows about The Game this weekend between Michigan and Ohio State, and one of the recruits the schools are going toe-to-toe for this year is Cleveland St. Ignatius's Michael Massey. Michael has a brother currently at Michigan and has also had a brother play at Ohio State, and when it comes to his college choice, he is down to those two schools as well as Boston College.

This past weekend, he took an unofficial to Ohio State for the Purdue game. He plans on taking his official visit to OSU but did not have an exact date for the official.

"I think it's the first weekend after the new year," he said.

He will visit BC on the 5th of December and Michigan on December 12th.

"Those are the only three visits I'm going to take," he said.

Michael has been down to Ohio State several times, but he definitely feels the need to make the official visit.

"I want to take my official," he said. "I need to get to know the players, get to know everybody a little bit."

Michael had ten sacks on the year and over thirty catches as a tight end.

"I got to play more offense this year," he said. "I got to where I like tight end."

Michigan is recruiting him as a tight end, but he said it doesn't really matter where he plays.

Michael's season was hampered a bit by injury, but the rehab is going well.

"I pulled my glut the week before St. Ed's," he said. "I should be fine in no time. It's just going to take rest."

We talked a bit about Kyle Ralph, the ex-Cincinnati St. Xavier offensive lineman (signed with UNC) who called Michael the best he faced.

"Kyle was the best I ever went up against," he said. "My brother got the best of him the year before. He seemed to take it out on me the next year."

Michael plans to decide right after the visit to Ohio State.
