Recruiting Update - Nick Patterson

One of the outstanding prospects visiting Ohio State this weekend will be Nick Patterson. He has all his visits set up, and OSU is the first.

Standout Missouri defensive back Nick Patterson has all his visits set up, and his first one will be to Ohio State.

"Yes I am (visiting this weekend)," he said. I'm leaving (tonight)."

Nick, who attended one of Ohio State's Senior Advanced Camp sessions, says he is mainly being looked at as a safety and cornerback. He also plays WR, where he had 45 catches for 831 yards and 11 TDs this year.

"I assume I will play defense (in college)," he said. "I just want to play.

"In high school I played free safety and wide receiver, but if we really have a tough opponent, I'll line up at corner."

Nick has noticed that OSU played two true freshmen this year at defensive back, Donte Whitner and Ashton Youboty.

"I see Ohio State has a heavy rotation," he said. "I see them playing as freshmen."

Nick listed his visit dates as Ohio State on 12/5, Missouri on 12/12, Wisconsin on 12/19, UCLA on 1/9, and Notre Dame on 1/16. His team had a successful season.

"We were 9-4," he said. "We were the state runner up.

"We played in the Rams' stadium for the state championship. It was disappointing to lose, but playing in the state championship is something I'm never going to forget."

On defense, Nick had 73 tackles, one INT, and six pass breakups. He doesn't plan on playing any sports this winter.

"I'm going to sit out basketball to lift weights but I am going to run track," he said.
