Recruiting Updates - Nick Patterson, Izzy Bauta

Is Missouri DB/WR Nick Patterson going to make a decision soon? It's quite possible. Duane Long talked with Nick about that, and he also caught up with NY OL Izzy Bauta to talk about his OSU official visit this weekend.

Nick Patterson, the fine DB/WR from Missouri, could be close to a decision. He took a trip to Missouri this weekend and liked the visit.

"It was a lot of fun," he said. "You do a lot of the same things on these recruiting visits, but it was a good time. My parents liked it too.

"UCLA's next and then Notre Dame, but I don't know what I'm going to do about those visits," he said. "Don't get me wrong, I'm still interested, but I may just want to make a decision here.

"I went to Missouri to have something to compare Ohio State to," he said. "I'm going to sit down and think about it. I'm not absolutely sure what I'm going to do, but I could have an answer by the end of the week."

Will the distance be a factor?

"Missouri's only an hour and a half away," he said. "Ohio State's six and a half hours away, but it just didn't seem that long."

Izzy Bauta, a rising OL prospect from Brooklyn, NY, was one of the excellent prospects in town this weekend for their Ohio State official visit.

"I liked it," he said. "I liked it a lot. I really liked the coaches and the players. It seemed like a family atmosphere and the facilities are first rate."

What stood out to him about the visit?

"Just the players and coaches were really great people," he said. "I felt comfortable with them."

Izzy was hosted by another lineman.

"Kirk Barton was my host. He's a really good guy."

Bauta has a visit to Duke scheduled for 1/9 and Rutgers on 1/16. He's got a brother at Duke who should be starting right guard next year. That may be all when it comes to his visits.

"I don't know about a fifth visit," he said. "I don't even know if I'm going to take one."

Izzy says he plans on picking the place where he'll feel the most comfortable, and his parents are hoping for the same.

"They want me to go where I like it the most," he said. "They're not really concerned about how far away."
