"It was 76," he said. "It was really nice out there. I could see how you could fall in love with it. I liked it a lot."
Patterson was impressed with the area surrounding campus.
"There's stuff to do outside of football. Coaches were great, Westwood's in a real nice area, real nice facilities. USC is closer to UCLA than the Rose Bowl.
"The BCS stuff was still on the field and that was pretty exciting."
The Bruins did their best to make an impression on Nick.
Nick has family out in that area, and it sounded at first like the visit would just make his decision tougher, but he gave a bit of a surprise reply when asked about that.
"I don't know about that," he said. "It was a really good experience, but I don't see where my decision is going to be affected by it really."
The decision will be announced within 48 hours.
"I'm going to make my decision this week," he said. "I'm going to make my announcement at my football banquet this Tuesday."
The OSU coaches are still very much on Nick's trail.
"Coach Spencer and Coach Tressel were in to see me the day I left for UCLA," Nick said. "Coach Spencer's going to be back maybe tomorrow or Tuesday, maybe Wednesday, and Coach Tressel the week after."
