Lyons Narrows Choices Down To Three

Pennsylvania athlete prospect Devon Lyons wrapped up his official visit schedule with a trip to Michigan this past weekend. Upon returning, Lyons now says he has narrowed his college choices down to three schools. Did OSU make the cut? Click here for more details.

Pittsburgh Woodland Hills wide receiver/defensive back Devon Lyons wrapped up his official visits with a trip to Michigan this past weekend.

Lyons (6-2 1/2, 204, 4.47) was a fine two-way player for Woodland Hills this season. Offensively, he had 23 catches and scored 14 touchdowns. Defensively, he had 52 tackles and four interceptions after tallying five picks as a junior.

Lyons had visited Notre Dame, Michigan State, OSU and Miami (Fla.) previously. This trip to Michigan came about at the last minute.

"I called them on Wednesday and asked if I could visit," Lyons said. "My cousin, Ryan Mundy, came home after (the Rose Bowl) and talked me into it. I had never given them a shot before that."

In addition to Mundy, Lyons also spent time with fellow Woodland Hills graduate Steve Breaston in Ann Arbor.

"It was all right," Lyons said. "I have a lot of people I know up there."

Lyons told he has narrowed the field to three of the schools he visited -- OSU, Miami (Fla.) and Michigan. Here is what he said about each school:

* Ohio State -- "The coaches are good, it's close, the facilities are good and there is an opportunity to play. The overall environment, it's a place I could fit in."

* Miami (Fla.) -- "Definitely the campus. Plus, the social environment is good there. They have a good football program. They are a powerhouse. They are always in a bowl game. The put a lot of people in the pros. I like the coaches there, too."

* Michigan -- "It reminds me of Ohio State. With their offensive system, they pass the ball more. The wide receivers there are good as well."

Lyons said he is in no hurry to make a final decision.

"Probably within two weeks I want to have it decided," Lyons said. "(UM coach Lloyd) Carr will be here not this week but next week. Coach Tressel has already been here. (Miami coach Larry) Coker will be here Tuesday."
