Patterson commits to Ohio State

DB Nick Patterson of Hazelwood Central HS in Florissant, MO has just become the latest commitment to the 2004 OSU recruiting class.

The number of Buckeye recruits got one bigger tonight as Florissant, MO Hazelwood Central DB Nick Patterson announced his decision to attend Ohio State. The decision came a short time ago at a team function at his high school.

Patterson has a good frame and fine athleticism (6-1, 200, 4.5) and emerged as a prime target on Ohio State's recruiting radar in June, when he attended OSU's one-day Senior Advanced Camp and put on a showing good enough to gain an offer.

Patterson's interest in the Buckeyes continued throughout the summer, and he took an official visit to Ohio State the weekend of December 5th. The visit made enough of an impression to put the Buckeyes at the top of his list.

Patterson played both ways for Hazelwood Central in 2003, racking up 73 tackles, 1 INT and six pass breakups on defense with 45 catches for 831 yards and 11 TDs on offense. He projects as a safety on the next level.

Ohio State was chosen over Missouri and UCLA as Patterson's choice. He is also an excellent student, posting a 4.02 GPA and a 25 ACT.
