Last year, Xenia High School had one of the best overall prospects in the state of Ohio in OL Ben Person. This year, they have another player who is getting plenty of Division I-A attention in RB/DB Cedric Tolbert.
"I have no offers yet, but I've been going to a lot of junior
days," Tolbert said.
Cedric plans to make the rounds when it comes to camps this year, and he says that all the schools he is considering are attractive to him.
Cedric can play on either side of the ball, but most are considering him for offense.
"Most are looking at me as a running back but some say I could play corner," he said.
When it comes to making a choice, academics, proximity, and the excitement the football program brings are the keys Cedric will be looking at.
"I want to go to a school where football is king," he said. "I don't want to go to a school where it takes a back seat to basketball.
"I want to stay close to home so my family can see me play. Academics is going to be important. I don't want to go to a school where I'll only be an athlete. I'm looking at business school and I'm starting to look at computers."
Right now, Cedric is in no hurry to make a choice.
"I want to see who offers before I make a decision," he said. "I don't really have a time table."
He does have a list of favorites though.
"Ohio State is number one," he said. "Every kid's dream is to go to Ohio State if you grow up here.
"I like UC. I really enjoyed their junior day. And Indiana. Pittsburgh too, they're in the mix."
