Dennis Underwood of Louisville (OH) St. Thomas Aquinas had a chance to go to camp at Ohio State this weekend. At the camp, he measured in at 6-3, 195 and put up some impressive marks.
"It was really good, going down to camp," he said. "I ran a 4.3 and a 4.4. I had a 4.2 shuttle and a 37 vertical."
Underwood is one of the state's top 40 prospects, and he can play many positions on the field, but most schools like him at RB. Ohio State, Northwestern, Alabama, Pitt, Virginia, Penn State, West Virginia, and Notre Dame are among the schools looking at him for that position.
"Michigan's recruiting me as a safety, but I want to be a running back," he said.
To date, Underwood has one offer.
"Ball State's the only one that's offered so far," he said.
Not much has been written about Underwood yet, but he says that living in a football-rich area has something to do with it.
"I'm in Stark County," he said. "There's so much competition up here, it's tough to get in the newspapers."
He has a busy summer ahead camp-wise.
"I'm going to Michigan, Penn State, Ohio State, West Virginia, and hopefully Notre Dame," he said. "I'm thinking about going to MSL camp. I'll speak to my dad about it."
When can we expect a decision from Dennis?
"Likely toward the middle of the season," he said. "It will likely come down to Ohio State and Michigan."
Interestingy, when we called Dennis, he was out fishing. He said fishing is a pastime he loves.
"I love to fish," he said. "When I'm not playing sports or working out for sports, I find a way to get to a fishing hole somewhere."
