Is Brumbaugh Interested In OSU?

Power forward Keith Brumbaugh of Deland, Fla. is one of the nation's best hoops prospects for the class of 2005. Is he interested in Ohio State?

Now that the 2004 recruiting season is beginning to wind down, the 2005 campaign is just heating up. One of the junior class' fantastic prospects is also heating up.

Bucknuts spoke with 6'8" power forward Keith Brumbaugh on Wednesday afternoon. Brumbaugh is one of the top prospects in the nation for the class of '05. The super junior averaged 24 points a game this past season, and is ranked as the 4th best player overall by the InsidersHoops.Com.

So is Brumbaugh interested in Ohio State?

"They send me a lot of letters," Brumbaugh said. "I would probably have some interest in them."

Brumbaugh is currently keeping his interest to a select few schools.

"Florida, Florida State, Auburn, Georgia, and Kentucky," he said. "Those are the schools I'm looking at right now."

His AAU team, Team Florida, recently competed in the Boo Williams tournament this past weekend. They finished 1-2 in pool play, although they did manage to defeat the eventual pool champion Friends of Hoop Seatle behind a strong performance by Brumbaugh.

Friends of Hoop Seatle featured several junior stars including Jon Brockman, Micah Downs and Martell Webster amongst others. So what is Brumbaugh looking for in his choice?

"I am looking to fit in well," he said. "I would like to play right away."

Brumbaugh is a left-hander who is a very good shooter. He's explosive off the dribble, and one of the better players to come out of Florida in a while. Last season as a junior, he finished second team all-state.

He will continue to be one of the guys to watch this summer. Bucknuts will continue to monitor him if Ohio State emerges as a contender.
