GaryHousteau (Jun 24, 2004 1:04:41 PM)
Hi was a great North South game and I'm anxious to hear news that breaks from the camps. Rember being in Youngstown I'm mainly a fan just like all of you. Let's chat. Smile.

GaryHousteau (Jun 24, 2004 1:06:19 PM)
I don't know the official word on Freddie Lenix as of now but my sources are telling me he will be getting his offer on Sunday. We shall see if that happens.

HunterdonBuck (Jun 24, 2004 1:07:10 PM)
Gary, Give us the skinny on Chris Wells from Garfield HS-Is he a threat to join the bad guys in Ann Arbor-say it isn't so!!

GaryHousteau (Jun 24, 2004 1:09:05 PM)
Hi HunterdonBuck...I'm almost as confident about Wells going to OSU than I was about Ginn and I knew Ginn's status the entire time. Sure he's going to give Michigan their due...but in the end it's Scarlet and Gray baby! And he's just a super nice young kid. He's still a baby for crying out loud.

bucksfan47 (Jun 24, 2004 1:09:20 PM)
Gary, hello and thanks for all the wonderful updates, and thanks for the track coverage, I remember when track was still considered a sport in Ohio!

GaryHousteau (Jun 24, 2004 1:11:55 PM)
HI bucksfan...thank you for the kind words and you're welcome. My pleasure! Smile!

edbuck51 (Jun 24, 2004 1:09:24 PM)
Henne didn't get an offer. Do you think that is because they are waiting to see other in-staters, of because they are going to go after OOSs?

GaryHousteau (Jun 24, 2004 1:11:52 PM)
Hi edbuck...Henne is going to Michigan...what am I missing?

edbuck51 (Jun 24, 2004 1:12:28 PM)
I meant Hennis, the o-lineman.

edbuck51 (Jun 24, 2004 1:12:13 PM)
Did you get to see the game, either in person or on TV (tape)?

GaryHousteau (Jun 24, 2004 1:17:41 PM)
Okay edbuck... if the game you are referring to is the North-South game I was at that game and I enjoyed it immensely. I haven't had time to watch it on tape yet. As far as Hennis goes...I saw him at camp and he passed the look test but I think they are going to wait and see how the other remaining in state linemen go during the season before offering another one. Boone and Cordle are a great start for instaters.

bucksfan47 (Jun 24, 2004 1:17:51 PM)
I want to ask about Reecie, I still am pulling for the kid, even though I take alot of flack for that I am sticking to it. any info would be great! and again, thank you!

GaryHousteau (Jun 24, 2004 1:21:52 PM)
Reecie is Reecie, what more can I say. He got caught up in delusions of grandeur and I never thought that would happen because in high school I really thought his mom was the one would keep in him check. Deep down, he's a good kid, but he's oviously been listening to the wrong people. I think his mother got caught up in the whole thing as well. I'll always root for Reecie and I hope he has a career in the NFL but he really blew it at the college level.

HunterdonBuck (Jun 24, 2004 1:22:01 PM)
Gary, Mike Hartline-Brian's little brother will be the QB at Canton Glen Oak-does he project as a Regional or National recruit?

GaryHousteau (Jun 24, 2004 1:24:58 PM)
Hi Hunterdonbuck... Brian and Mike are both at OSU's camp right now and I'm hoping and anticipating an offer is imminent for Brian. Mike will easily project as a national recruit next year. It sure will help him having his big brother Brian to throw to. I'm guessing we will hear good news from Brian as early as tomorrow. Just a guess.

Kirk (Jun 24, 2004 1:25:05 PM)
texas buck I asks: "Now that Bauserman is out of the picture (for now), who is next to get a serious look?"

GaryHousteau (Jun 24, 2004 1:28:20 PM)
Hi texas buck...If you're talking quarterbacks it looks as if it will be Sanchez or Schoenhoft now. I guess they will take a QB now even though I think they could still pass on one this year. I was hoping Stull was still in the running but I haven't heard his name around much lately. For some reason I have a good feeling about Sanchez but I have no inside info on this.

ToledoBucknut (Jun 24, 2004 1:28:30 PM)
What's the latest with AMW? Do you still believe he will be a Buckeye?

GaryHousteau (Jun 24, 2004 1:29:20 PM)
Just a matter of time before AMW will officially be a Buckeye! Smile!

HunterdonBuck (Jun 24, 2004 1:29:27 PM)
Will Lenix be offered as a LB or Safety?

BuckTooth (Jun 24, 2004 1:29:33 PM)
Do you think Lennix commits soon after his offer?

GaryHousteau (Jun 24, 2004 1:33:17 PM)
About Lenix... I don't know where he will be offered. I've stated that he will have a tremendous season as a running back this year if Ginn Sr. holds to that plan. Lenix thinks he's a quality runningback. I don't know what position but that will take care of itself...just offer! Will he commit soon. I doubt it. He wants to visit Florida. We all know his family situation is important to him and there's no way he's leaving his support group a thousand miles away. He will be a Buckeye. That's simple. Curtis Smith will be too if he gets an offer but that is not as certain yet. Lenix is pretty certain if not a formality.

buckeyenole (Jun 24, 2004 1:33:27 PM)
Hi Gary, Is Harrison going to get an offer despite not going to camp?

GaryHousteau (Jun 24, 2004 1:36:32 PM)
Hi Buckeynole...I really wish Harrison would have attended camp. I know he feels he doesn't need to go again but if OSU feels he does than that's a losing battle for him. In the end I think Harrison gets an offer and becomes a Buckeye, even more so than Ringer. But OSU likes to see you at camp if you're on the fence. I can't blame them. It would be terrible if Harrison missed out on a scholarship to OSU because he didn't camp there. I would go and prove myself one more time if I were him.

Hello (Jun 24, 2004 1:36:42 PM)
With the potential signings of Sanchez out of Mission Viejo and the RB out of Florida (name slips my memory right now), the Bucks could potentially have an outstanding recruiting class nationally, no?

GaryHousteau (Jun 24, 2004 1:39:24 PM)! If Wells is the guy from Florida you're talking about then yes that would be a good thing nationally. If we lock up Ohio's finest and then add a few more national guys in addition to guys like Sanchez and Wells, then that's a good start nationally period. You know even more national names will become prominent as the year goes on. So yes it could be a solid national class.

BuckTooth (Jun 24, 2004 1:39:53 PM)
Do we have a shot at any other QB's in this class aside from Schoenhoft & Sanchez? Seems like we have not heard of anyone else other than Stull who may or may not get offered.

GaryHousteau (Jun 24, 2004 1:42:59 PM)
I was watching Christenson for a while but he verballed to Iowa so he's eliminated. I also liked the Hiller kid from Orrville but unless he lights up the city there in Wayne County then I doubt if he'll be anywhere on the OSU radar. It looks like a three horse race right now for one spot between Sanchez, Schoenoft and Stull. Who knows?

crazynuts (Jun 24, 2004 1:43:22 PM)
Gary, missed the first half (out to lunch, literally and figuratively), Does Bauserman's decision mean that we are looking at two QB's or do we take one and wait for the motherlode next year. Thanks again

GaryHousteau (Jun 24, 2004 1:46:00 PM)
Hi crazynuts...I think we take just one now and wait for next year. I even think we can wait and take two next year...Hartline and Schlichter. With Boeckman still having five years to play we really need a QB this year? I don't think it's a priority but we'll take one nonetheless.

buckeyenole (Jun 24, 2004 1:46:13 PM)
Other than Hartline, do we offer/get anymore instate WR's (Amos, Robiskie, Chambers?)

GaryHousteau (Jun 24, 2004 1:49:05 PM)
As far as I know Amos was offered (correct me if I'm wrong please). I intend to see Robiskie and Champbers this summer and Quinn from Maple Heights just to see what else is out there. I also like Orton a whole lot and I believe he is still in the running somewhere with the Buckeyes.

InterPants (Jun 24, 2004 1:49:13 PM)
Hey Gary after the last ohio game, and definitely seeing the spring game, im getting to think that erik haw is the best young back, (erm freshman here) correct me if im wrong but as good as pittman is, haw just seems to have some unreal second step and breaking away.

GaryHousteau (Jun 24, 2004 1:54:22 PM)
Hi interpants...I like Haw's toughness and speed a great deal. I think Pittman has the better second gear and he's more pure instincts as a runner than Haw. Pittman is a true running back...I'm convinced of that. Haw is just as impressive but in other ways. I think we have a perfect of complementary running backs that you can possibly have. I really, really like both guys but if you put water pistol to my head I will say that Pittman will have bigger numbers in his career than Haw. Both will be a pleasure to watch! I'm really smiling about having both of them. And both are very humble kids, especially Haw. Both will do us proud.

tsteele316 (Jun 24, 2004 1:54:35 PM)
what does the picture look like for linebackers that osu is recruiting? I would think the staff would like to add at least one or two.

GaryHousteau (Jun 24, 2004 1:58:25 PM)
Hi tsteele... I have to say after seeing Travers in person I wasn't taken aback by him in any means. So I really need to see him in action. All those offers he has for a reason I'm sure. I'm not knocking him, he's just not the Katzenmoyer or Wilhelm or D'Andrea or even Hoobler kind of linebacker that I Ideally like to see in the middle at Ohio State. I love the prototype in the middle. That's Katzenmoyer's fault. I don't really see a stud LB in Ohio this year. Lenix is probably the best I know of right now.

benjygil7 (Jun 24, 2004 1:58:37 PM)
Do you think that if OSU if fortunate enough to land Maurice Wells this year, it will hurt our chances with Chris Wells next year because we have four backs that are either Freshmen or sophmores?

GaryHousteau (Jun 24, 2004 2:01:55 PM)
Hi benjygil7...I like the fact that Chris Wells thinks the best players in Ohio should stay in Ohio. I'm guessing he doesn't even know who Maurice Wells is at this time. I'm certain Maurice Wells coming to Ohio State, if he does, will have no bearing on if Chris Wells comes here. Chris Wells could even play on defense at Ohio State as strange as that might sound right now. Chris Wells is a Buckeye regardless.

bucksfan47 (Jun 24, 2004 2:02:01 PM)
Gary, what about Daniels? Is he still a big OSU lean are is he getting caught up in the recent hype?

GaryHousteau (Jun 24, 2004 2:05:17 PM)
My bad...I like Daniels a lot. I was very impressed watching him at the Nike Camp. He could play many positions obviously but I really like him as a wide out. He's another guy like Lenix...get him in the fold and find a place for him later. I'm guessing it won't be long before he's officially a Buckeye.

BuckeyeDave (Jun 24, 2004 2:05:30 PM)
How does Doc Tressel coach RBs differently from Tim Spencer?

GaryHousteau (Jun 24, 2004 2:08:56 PM)
Hi Buckeydave...Doc Tressel is a veteran coach so I'm sure he's well set in his ways of teaching. I don't know that answer. I've never seen him operate really. All I know is we need some big time production this year out of the running back position be it Ross or Hall or the two freshman. Say what you want about Hall but no one personifies class better than Mo Hall. I bet he shows up again before his career ends at Ohio State. This is his last year whether he plays or not and he is intending to give it a go.

Seabus (Jun 24, 2004 2:09:20 PM)
Gary, I know you are a Sutten fan, I am too!! Have you talked to him recently and where do you envision him eventually going??

GaryHousteau (Jun 24, 2004 2:12:12 PM)
Hi Seabus... I last talked to Sutton at the regional track meet in Austintown the first week in June. He's out to prove himself this year because the 6,200 yards haven't gotten him the respect he deserves. He competes against a very solid schedule this year, including Warren G. Harding, so if he runs up big numbers again this year...he can't be denied. I would hate to see him end up at Michigan. But he would be one Wolverine, other than Pierre Woods, that I will root for. Kids like him are too good to pass on.

GaryHousteau (Jun 24, 2004 2:14:04 PM)
Thanks everyone and thanks Kirk....he's the unsung hero at Bucknuts. It was great to chat again and hopefully next week we will have more offers to talk about. I'm hoping on Lenix and Hartiline in the near future. Have a great weekend. Smile!
