A Tale Of Two QBs (And One Offensive Lineman)

It has been said that Ohio State will be taking two quarterbacks in this year's recruiting class. Could those two be Rob Schoenhoft of Cincinnati St. Xavier and Mark Sanchez of Mission Viejo (Ca.)? It's hard to say, but both took the time to talk with us recently for upcoming editions of the Bucknuts Radio Hour. Check out a preview of what each one said.

I spoke yesterday with Mark Sanchez from his Mission Viejo home. Mark is the #1 rated quarterback in the country by most services and had just returned from visits to Ohio State, Texas and a second visit to USC. "All my favorites were fantastic," he said. "The coaching staff at Ohio State blew me away".

Mark's teammate, Ryan Williams, has previously committed to the Buckeyes. "Ryan and his father are recruiting me hard", Sanchez laughed. "He grew up back there and he really wants me to join him in Columbus"

Mark has another teammate – Top 100 offensive lineman Kevin Bemoll – who visited Ohio State along with Ryan Williams just this past weekend. "(Kevin) gave me a call while he was there," Sanchez said. "He was in the stadium, and he just wanted to make sure I didn't make my decision too quick. He said, 'Hey Mark, this place is awesome. You can't make your decision this weekend. Just wait for me. Let's talk when we get back.' So I think that's good news for Buckeye fans, I'm not sure."

Sanchez is headed to the Elite Eleven camp in Orange County on July 21 and indicated that he would announce his decision there. And who is his roomie at the Elite Eleven camp? None other than Ohio's top quarterback, Rob Schoenhoft. So I called up Rob and asked what his plans are.

"I have my mind made up to where I am going to commit, but the Elite Eleven people asked me to hold off and announce the decision at their camp", Rob said. He is looking forward to seeing Sanchez and rooming with him but has no idea where Mark is headed. Rob is also down to his final 3-4 and says that the depth chart plays a big role in his final decision. Does he know where each team stands at his position? "Oh, yeah", he says. Michigan State just brought in Brian Hoyer; Michigan has last year's #1 quarterback, Chad Henne. And Notre Dame has two kids, although they said that one might move to another position".

And what about our Buckeyes? "Well, last year's recruit Joe Bauserman is going to play baseball so that looks pretty good up there". Rob is also friendly with new OSU recruiting coordinator, John Peterson, who recruited him during his time at Miami. Maybe he saw Rob as the next Ben Rothlesberger. He certainly has the size. "I am 6'6" and feel I will play at 245 pounds in college".

So here we go. All three of these guys are super recruits. All three look to announce their choices within the next two weeks. Personally? I think the Buckeyes look real good for Kevin Bemoll and look pretty good for Rob Schoenhoft. Mark Sanchez? It seems like it will come down to Texas and Ohio State.

Maybe Rob and Mark can sort it out in their dorm room next weekend!

Mark Sanchez will appear on this week's Bucknuts Radio Hour. Rob Schoenhoft will be on next week's show. You can listen over the internet starting tomorrow or on radio stations around the state of Ohio.
