Mission Viejo, Calif., offensive lineman Kevin Bemoll became Ohio State's seventh verbal commitment Friday afternoon.

Bemoll was not available for comment late Friday night. But his mother, Renee Fabrizi, confirmed that Bemoll committed to the Buckeyes.

"That's what he told me," Fabrizi said. "We think he made the right decision based on all the schools that he looked at. He called me at work and left me a message. He said, `Mom, I just committed to Ohio State and I'm happy. I'm going to a football game with my friends. I'll see you later.'

"We made a trip to Florida to look at several schools there and he was scheduled to go to LSU. But I think he just felt he fit in when he went out there. He loved the facilities and the school.

"His friend, Ryan (Williams), had already committed to Ohio State. Kevin just fell in love with it. He wasn't even sure he wanted to go on the trip."

Ms. Fabrizi said the family is hopeful of making a visit to Columbus before football practice begins.

"We would love to go out there," she said. "We have to get the timing straight between his football and my work schedule. It is exciting. We've seen all the pictures and videos, but we want to see it in person."

Earlier Friday, Wes Williams, the father of Bemoll's friend and teammate Ryan Williams, confirmed that Bemoll had committed.

"He was in love with Ohio State from the moment he saw it last week," said Mr. Williams, who accompanied his son and Bemoll to OSU last weekend. "The feeling never left after he returned home."

Bemoll becomes OSU's third offensive line recruit in this class, joining Ohio prospects Alex Boone and Jimmy Cordle. OSU could still take one more lineman in this class, which could number anywhere from 19 to 21 signees.

All eyes are now on his Mission Viejo teammate, quarterback Mark Sanchez, on which school he will pick. OSU is believed to be in his final two, along with Texas. He is expected to announce a choice sometime in the next several days.

Below is the article we published on Bemoll earlier Friday.

Mission Viejo, Calif., offensive lineman Kevin Bemoll had plenty to say last night as he reflected on his unofficial visit to Ohio State last weekend.

Bemoll (6-5 ½, 305, 5.0) made the visit to Columbus with teammate Ryan Williams, a defensive end who committed to Ohio State weeks ago.

"It went really well," Bemoll said. "I liked it a lot. There were lots of things to like. The coaches were nice and I really like the school, just the history they have there of it being a football school."

Bemoll traveled to Ohio with Williams and his family. Of course, Ohio State would love nothing worse than luring Bemoll as well as Mission Viejo‘s star quarterback Mark Sanchez to Columbus.

"Ryan and I are pretty close," Bemoll said. "We are together every day outside football. Ryan is probably not quite as close with Sanchez as I am."

Bemoll said he spent parts of last Friday through Sunday visiting OSU. There, head coach Jim Tressel and assistant coach Luke Fickell showed them around.

"Ryan's dad pulled up at the Horseshoe," Bemoll said. "That was pretty neat. I thought the Buckeye Hall of Fame was also pretty neat. I talked to (offensive coordinator/line coach Jim) Bollman by phone as well. He was on vacation while we were there."

According to Bemoll, OSU had jerseys with his name and Williams' name for them to try on. They also had video highlights of their Mission Viejo team playing on the video board at Ohio Stadium.

"It was insane," Bemoll said, laughing. "Ryan did not do any (unofficial) trips like this before he committed. I went to Miami (Fla.), Florida and Florida State. By far, Ohio State treated me the best. I was trying to tell Ryan about that, but I don't think he can appreciate it."

Bemoll (pronounced Bee-mull) has scholarship offers from Ohio State, LSU, Miami (Fla.), Florida, UCLA, California, San Diego State, Washington, Oregon, Oklahoma and Arizona, among others. He was scheduled to make a similar trip to LSU July 23.

"But I think we will probably cancel that trip and we were thinking about maybe setting up a trip so my family can go out and see Ohio State," he said.

So does that mean Bemoll is ready to verbal to the Buckeyes?

"I think I'm pretty close to making a decision," he said. "I can't say when it will be exactly. For me, it's pretty much down to Ohio State and Miami."

Bemoll talked about what he liked at Miami.

"Coach Kehoe, their line coach, has been there forever," he said. "I was joking around with Ryan. We were watching that national championship game. For some reason, it means a lot to me that Ohio State stuck it out and beat them. I think I will know pretty soon. It will probably be within the next week or so."

Bemoll started at offensive tackle this past year for Mission Viejo, which went 13-1 and lost in the CIF region finals.

"I think some schools think I would be good at guard," Bemoll said. "I think I could play either guard or tackle."

The idea that all three of these Mission Viejo standouts could attend Ohio State is intriguing. Sanchez has been quoted as saying he was down to four schools -- Ohio State, Texas, USC and Notre Dame.

But Bemoll said the field has been narrowed even closer: "It's down to Texas and Ohio State for Mark. He's not thinking about SC. If Mark tells me he is going to Ohio State, I would commit there as well. It would be neat if all three of us went to Ohio State."

Bemoll holds a 2.8 GPA and scored a 970 on his first attempt at the SAT.
