Nation's No. 1 Running Back Interested In OSU

Given Ohio State's running back tradition, Buckeye fans are always on the lookout for who the next star Ohio State running back will be. That tradition has caught the eye of a player from way up in Olympia, Washington -- No. 1 running back prospect Jonathan Stewart.

The Buckeyes are always on the hunt for quality running backs, and this year there are none better than Jonathan Stewart of Timberline High School in Olympia, Washington. Despite being thousands of miles away, Stewart says he is interested in Ohio State.

"I've always been an Ohio State fan," Stewart said. "I like the style of football. I'd like to come out there and take a look."

What interests him about Ohio State?

"I like the running back tradition at Ohio State," he said. "With so many good runners, they must have good linemen."

Stewart (5-10, 218, 4.52) is rated as a five-star prospect and No. 1 running back in America. Stewart had an outstanding junior season playing at the 3A level (4A is the biggest level of football in Washington).

"I had over 2600 yards on just over 200 carries," he said.

What does this outstanding prospect bring to the table?

"I keep my balance well. I do a good job of staying on my feet, and I break tackles," he said.

Right now, Stewart has no timetable for a decision.

"I really don't know (when I'll decide)," Stewart said. "I'm leaving that in God's hands. When the time is right, he'll let me know when I've found the right school for me."

Will going far away from home be a problem?

"My mom will be fine with what I decide," Stewart said.
