Defensive back Sean Smalls of Richmond (Va.) Huguenot high school is a more recent addition to the Ohio State recruiting scene. His stock is rising as he has offers from some of the top programs in the country.
What turned on Smalls to Ohio State?
"I just went up for camp," he said. "I went up there and really liked the place."
Summer camps are when the offers starting coming in for Smalls.
"I had been offered before by Maryland, but I was offered by Ohio State right around the time I went to camp," he said.
The Buckeyes are among four schools right now that Smalls has singled out.
"I haven't set up any of my official visits yet, but it's Ohio State, Penn State, Maryland, and Michigan," he said. "All have offered me."
Smalls stands in at 6-1 1/2, 185 and has been timed at 4.5 flat in the 40. He is being looked at by Ohio State as a corner/safety, but cornerback is his position of preference.
"I prefer corner," he said. "I play corner in high school. I also play wide receiver, but nobody's recruiting me there."
Smalls' decision could come sooner rather than later.
"I want to get it over with, if not before the season, then really early in the season," he said.
Since a decision is coming early, would there be a possibility of early enrollment?
"I really have never heard of that," Smalls said. "If I could, I would, but I don't think I can."
