Stewart Waiting To Hear From Eastern Schools

Five-star running back Jonathan Stewart is still waiting to hear more from some of the schools from the eastern half of the U.S. that he is interested in. He gave Duane Long a quick update on where things stand right now. #1 running back Jonathan Stewart of Olympia (Wash.) Timberline is just getting into the start of his season. His team began practice on Wednesday, and their first game is September 3rd.

College coaches aren't allowed to call recruits at this time, but Stewart says that some of the schools out east that he is interested in still haven't contacted him in any form.

"(Ohio State) sent me one letter," he said. "Michigan I heard from some, but I have not heard from Tennessee, and no I haven't heard from Florida."

Stewart will be taking his test again in October. He has already taken the test but will be taking it again to raise the score to his own personal satisfaction. He has yet to set up any official visits and says that distance from home will not be a factor.

"That's not really going to be a problem," he said.

Stewart has also played safety in the past but all schools are recruiting him as a running back. He rushed for 2,609 yards and 39 touchdowns as a junior. He may be looking at education for a major.

"I have a desire to be a P.E. teacher, so something in the education field," he said.
