QB/ATH Carlton Jackson of Pompano Beach (Fla.) Ely was able to make it up to Columbus last weekend to take in the OSU/Cincinnati game despite the nasty Florida weather, and he came away pleased with the trip.
"It went okay," he said. "That stadium is just something to see.
"At the game, I shook hands with Coach Tressel, but he was being interviewed so I didn't get to talk to him," he said. "I talked to Coach Bollman, Coach Hazell, Coach Daniels, and Coach Tucker."
While at OSU, Jackson spent time talking a lot with current QB Troy Smith.
"I talked to Troy Smith a lot," Jackson said. "He is doing pretty well. I think he may win the job."
Jackson already plans on being back at Ohio State soon.
"I have set up an official visit," he said. "I'm going to be here for the Michigan game."
Jackson aims to play right away wherever he goes to college, and he hopes it is at quarterback.
"I want to play quarterback," he said. "People are talking about athlete, but what I really want to do is play quarterback."
He hasn't had much of a chance to play yet this year due to the weather (he had a game cancelled and will play one this evening), but he got off to a good start.
"Last year, I completed 68 percent of my passes," Jackson said. "This year, we're spreading it out, three and four wide. First week, we only got to play a half before the game got shut down. I had 150 yards passing and 2 touchdown passes and 68 rushing yards in one half.
"It was against Belle Glade Central. We were up 21-8 when they called it."
Finally, Jackson commented on his whole impression of Ohio State.
"I could see myself being a Buckeye," he said.
