All the Mr. Football talk in Ohio has centered around Javon Ringer and Tyrell Sutton, but Alex Daniels of Columbus Brookhaven is also off to quite a start. His defensive statistics are indeed impressive.
"Game one, I had 12 tackles and 4 sacks," Daniels said. "Game two, I had seven tackles, one fumble caused, one fumble recovered, and a blocked punt. Game three, I had 11 tackles and three forced fumbles. All those are solo tackles. I would have had a lot more if they were counting assists."
Daniels has also shown his versatility, playing all over the field for Brookhaven.
"The second game, I played safety, but the first and third game I played linebacker," Daniels said. "I never played linebacker before. I'm working on my reads and keys. I don't know what I'm doing.
"I've been playing running back. I scored a touchdown, but they called it back. It was a great run though; I put it on my highlight tape."
Daniels also gave the latest on his recruitment. The last time we spoke with him, he was trying to set up an official visit with Oklahoma. Has he set a visit date with the Sooners?
"No, I have not," he said. "I plan on calling them. I'm going to Pitt for the Nebraska game this weekend. Our teammate's already committed to Pitt. Minnesota called yesterday, I know they've got all those Columbus guys up there.
"I've been to Ohio State the past couple of weekends. They're trying to get me to commit. I at least want to see Oklahoma. We haven't set anything up."
