Daniels Getting More Attention

Alex Daniels of Columbus Brookhaven is off to a great start this year. Meanwhile, more schools are seemingly paying attention. Duane Long has the latest.

Alex Daniels of Columbus Brookhaven has been hoping for months that more schools would contact him, and now it seems like more options are opening up.

"Miami (Fla) asked for tape," Daniels said. "Florida State called yesterday."

Daniels has had Oklahoma on his list for a long time, and he has finally chosen a visit date.

"I set up my visit to Oklahoma," he said. "It will be for the Nebraska game on November 13th. I will be going out there with Keith Massey. He's my teammate."

Daniels is playing linebacker for the first time this year and is off to an excellent start.

"Last game, I had 10 tackles, one sack, two tackles for loss, and an interception return for a touchdown and a rushing touchdown," he said.

He is still learning the linebacker position, though.

"I'm still missing too many tackles," Daniels said. "I'm still adjusting to playing linebacker. My attack angles aren't right. I am more comfortable than I was in the first game but I am not where I want to be. I am working on my keys and my reads."

Daniels has perhaps the biggest game of the season today as Brookhaven goes up against Beechcroft.

"This is THE game this Friday," Daniels said. "We got Beechcroft. The winner can claim to be the best in the city."
